Pennsylvania blocking ‘books to prisoners’ orgs!

September 2018  |  Published in Latest News

Some major changes have been announced for Pennsylvania’s prison mail system which mean books-to-prisoners organizations may be permanently barred from sending to the state!

The PLP sends about 15% of its books to PA, so we’ll obviously be banding together with other groups to try to fight this, since it’ll deprive many prisoners – who can’t afford tablets or paid eBooks – of access to reading material.

(We also appreciate the need to not have dangerous drugs enter prisons, which is the stated reason for this shift, but we’re pretty sure we’re not doing that!)
