PLP honored by the Namaste Foundation as an inspiring non-profit

Wonderful news – the Prisoners Literature Project has been chosen by the Namaste Foundation as one of two dozen ‘inspiring nonprofits who are working toward positive change’ in criminal justice reform.

The Namaste Foundation is an organization that ‘supports exceptional nonprofits for a more beautiful world’.

There’s more information via this Namaste Foundation announcement. The PLP has also received a monetary grant from the Foundation as part of this honor, & we’d like to thank them for thinking of us & for choosing us to be featured alongside many other vital prison and criminal justice non-profit organizations.

ANNOUNCE: the Prisoners Literature Project will be holding a special book picking/packing session on MLK Jr. Day (Monday, January 15th!) from 10am to 5pm.


New York’s pilot program blocks ‘books to prisoners’ programs

New York State is piloting a program which only allows a few prison-industrial complex ‘approved vendors’ – which have a limited, unhelpful set of full-priced books – to send packages to prisoners.


PLP volunteer sessions: still running through the holiday!

Our volunteer sessions are running all the way through the holiday, including Xmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (both Sundays!) and Wednesday 27th, for anyone who’d like to come and help us pick/pack books for prisoners.
